One of my favorite parts of being a birth photographer is seeing how people transform from a couple to parents. Shelby and John were an amazing team as they brought their daughter into the world, and the staff at Medical Center of the Rockies was amazing, as usual. Madison is a beautiful newborn and had one of the most amazing umbilical cords I have ever seen.
If you look at her placenta you will see that it is a velamentous cord insertion. “Normally, the blood vessels of the baby run from the middle of the placenta via the umbilical cord to the baby. Velamentous insertion means that the blood vessels, unprotected by Wharton’s jelly, traverse the membranes before they come together into the umbilical cord.” (http://vasaprevia.com/Velamentous-Cord-Insertion) This occurs in about 1.1% of all singleton pregnancies.
For the past 11 years, I have been working to create a full-time, profitable photography…
